Welcome to the 12th Maria Delivoria-Papadopoulos Perinatal Symposium

The Maria Delivoria-Papadopoulos Perinatal Symposia are dedicated to the legacy of the “Trailblazer in Perinatology” and “Mother of Neonatology”, the remarkable Greek-American professor, clinician, teacher, and researcher Maria Delivoria-Papadopoulos who was the first to introduce mechanical respiratory support for premature neonates globally. Her pioneering work in peri- and neonatal physiology, particularly in fetal hemoglobin and brain function, earned her numerous awards, and she generously mentored countless young doctors throughout her career.

Each year, the Symposium focuses extensively on a single theme, staying true to the traditional format of a “scientific symposium.” Since its inception in 2010 in Athens, the Symposium has evolved from in-person events to virtual platforms following the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling participants from around the world to benefit from presentations by leading international experts and to engage in interactive panel discussions on important topics.

Previous symposium themes have included: Perinatal Asphyxia, Cesarean Section: Impact on Mother and Child, Intrauterine Growth Restriction and Fetal Programming, Diabetes in Pregnancy and Fetal Macrosomia, Chorioamnionitis: Impact on Mother and Child, Multiple Pregnancy, Preterm Birth, Perinatal Nutrition and DOHaD Consequences, Perinatal COVID-19: The Aftermath, Advanced Maternal Age and Childbearing, and The Microbiome in Pregnancy and at the Beginning of Life.

This year's 12th Maria Delivoria-Papadopoulos Perinatal Symposium will focus on "Vaccination in Pregnancy and the Perinatal Period," and we are delighted to welcome you.

We extend our sincere thanks to the sponsors, whose support has made this event possible, and to the agency providing secretarial services for the Symposium.

We hope that all participants will gain valuable and practical knowledge from this year's discussions!
