Welcome to the 10th BIRTH Congress

The 10th edition of the series of international conferences entitled “BIRTH: Clinical Challenges in Labor and Delivery”, will be held from December 4 to 6 of this year in São Paulo, Brazil, at the “Frei Caneca” Congress Center.

In this edition, Brazil will be represented by Grupo Santa Joana as the local organizer, in collaboration with the Brazilian Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics Associations (FEBRASGO), which is participating as a co-organizing body.

In addition to the founding presidents, Prof. Gian Carlo Di Renzo and Dr. Roberto Romero, the congress will have a local presidency composed of distinguished specialists: Prof. Eduardo Cordioli, Director of Obstetrics at Grupo Santa Joana; Dr. Antonio Fernandes Moron, Head of the Fetal Medicine Department at Santa Joana Hospital and Maternity; Dr. Mario Macoto Kondo, Coordinator of High-Complexity Obstetrics at Grupo Santa Joana; Dr. Newton Busso, Head of the Gynecology Department at the Santa Joana Hospital and Maternity Study Center; and Prof. Maria Celeste Wender, President of FEBRASGO.

The conference will open on the afternoon of December 4, with two keynote lectures and will continue in the following days with main sessions, communication sessions (breaking news), lunch workshops and simulation sessions that will be held in parallel to the main sessions.

Thirty-seven international experts will join fourteen Brazilian experts, forming a large and important faculty that will discuss the most important aspects of childbirth, in particular the new methods of vaginal birth assistance (OdonAssist), the techniques of cesarean section (which is the most frequent method of birth in Brazil!), the risks of labor and delivery for the mother and the fetus (postpartum hemorrhage, twin birth, etc.), the use of AI for the best management of labor and delivery.

Preterm birth and its prevention issues and risks for the fetus/newborn will also be discussed, the new challenges posed by obesity, diabetes, nutritional and lifestyle alterations that can negatively affect labor and, finally, the use of ultrasound as a means to better diagnose labor alterations. In this regard, courses will be held parallel to the main sessions with ultrasound simulations.

The BIRTH Congress, now in its 10th edition, the first of which was in Rome in 2005, still represents an important moment of the highest scientific value for this field of medicine and for better assistance in human reproduction.
